About Me

I have been an educator for 14 years, teaching first grade, third grade and my most recent role as an Advanced Academic Specialist for gifted students on my campus.

Over the last four years, my role as an Advanced Academic Specialist, has allowed me to take on many leadership roles such as, Camp Invention Director, Regional Challenge Master for Destination Imagination and grade level curriculum leader. These leadership roles have given me the opportunity to grow as a leader and extend my passion for education. As an Advanced Academics Specialist I initiated, expanded, and identified gifted students for enrollment in the gifted campus program. I also collaborated with a team of 22 district Advanced Academic Specialists on our differentiate gifted curriculum.

Previously, I held the role as Outdoor Classroom District Liaison where I helped facilitate and guide Garden Coordinators on their garden maintenance and teaching outside. I created a "Parade of Outdoor Classrooms" where adults participated in an interactive field trip, visiting school gardens. This professional development allowed garden coordinators to engage with one another to feel empowered to utilize their school garden. I also led many adult trainings on topics such as citizen science and garden skills.

My passion has grown immensely for creating interactive, engaging and effective digital lessons for our Advanced Academic department. I find myself spending much of my time utilizing Google Suite, Canva, iWork Suite and Microsoft Powerpoint to upgrade our departments curriculum.

I have earned a Master's Certificate in Gifted Education from the University of North Texas, as well as a Bachelor's of Arts in Education from Schreiner University. I am currently upskilling by participating in many LinkedIN learning experiences such as, Articulate Storyline, Foundations of Corporate Training, Storyboarding.

As an instructional designer, I am committed to designing effective, detailed and engaging learning materials. As a lifelong learner and driven passion for education, I persistently push forward to always be knowledgeable of the newest technology and methodologies.
